Each year since introducing Rachel's Challenge, Ms. Marinos, Chair of the Social Studies Department, have worked to reinforce the ideas and goals of Rachel's Challenge with our students.
During one morning Muster, Ms. Marinos spoke about Rachel Scott, who was the first student killed in the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999.
This year, we continue to spread Rachel's message to our students. The walls of East-West will be covered with hand traced cut-outs of students explaining HOW they plan on achieving EACH challenge this year. Our students will be setting their goals for the year based on these challenges.
Rachel’s Challenge goals:
1. Dream Big
2. Look for the best in others
3. Start a chain reaction
4. Act of kindness
5. Positive influences
East-West has created a Friends of Rachel (F.O.R.) club to keep Rachel's message and create a safe learning environment for all our students.
FOR club meets every Thursday, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in room 409. For further information, you may contact Mr. Pierini at jpierini@ewsis.org.
