Please Note:

  1. Any parents who have financial difficulty and cannot afford a school uniform for their child should see our Parent Coordinator Ms. Anna Lam (718) 353-0009 ext. 4234 or email alam14@schools.nyc.gov to discuss options for obtaining a uniform.
  2. Students may wear a sweater or cardigan with the official school emblem over their uniform shirt.
  3. In order to maintain a positive learning environment, it is expected that East-West students dress in a professional manner. We expect East-West students to be dressed appropriately to ensure safety and to keep the focus on teaching and learning. We would like all parents and guardians to remind students of proper dress protocols on campus. Prohibited forms of dress at East-West include, but are not limited to:
    A) Hats or caps (with the exception of headwear worn for religious observance).
    B) Clothing that contains references to drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, racism, or gang-affiliation.
    C) Clothing that does not provide coverage of torso, undergarments, and private body parts, including see-through garments of any kind.
    D) Flip-flops.
    E) Sunglasses while indoors.
If a student comes to school wearing clothing prohibited by the Dress Code, then the student’s parents will be notified, the student may be subject to the interventions and disciplinary responses set forth in the Discipline Code, and the student will be expected to make appropriate adjustments to his/her clothing to conform with the Dress Code (e.g., turning shirt inside out, borrowing temporary clothing until the end of the school day, etc.)
  4. Parents are entitled to submit a request for uniform exemption to be considered on a case by case basis
  5. Uniform Infractions and Dress Code Violations will be addressed in accordance with the NYC DOE Student Intervention and Discipline Code
