  • Alumni Day is a wonderful time for us to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates as well as shed light to current seniors who are now deciding where to go to college and what to expect when they get there.

Our former students have the opportunity to come and share their college experience with the younger grades during morning Muster and with each other.

Events like this help to enhance our college going culture by encouraging all of our students to attend college and gives our alumni the chance to draw strength from each other as they face challenging life lessons in school.  The Alumni Panel helped answer questions about freshman orientation, college expectations, the numerous college parties, and most importantly time management.

The Life of an East-West Dancer...

The dance program teaches students much more than just dance.  It is a vehicle for celebrating community, and affecting social change through respectful body language, and honoring teamwork.  Students build an awareness of their own bodies in space, and in relation to those around them.  They develop control, focus, flexibility, and the ability to be still.  Students are challenged to solve problems through movement, write, speak and ask questions about dance, and make cultural connections to the past and present through the study of dance.

When we stopped saying "right, left" aloud and just moved our bodies, it sounded like our feet started to say "right, left" for us."

    -Darren Wen, 6th Grade
