Dear East-West Parents, Guardians and Staff,
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. Please join us as we kick off this coming holiday season with some fun-filled activities such as a grab bag gift exchange and holiday treats from around the globe.
If you wish to participate in the GRAB BAG GIFT EXCHANGE, please bring a wrapped present (worth $5 maximum) to the meeting. In addition, we invite all parents and staff to bring a small dish representing a HOLIDAY TREAT FROM YOUR NATIVE COUNTRY that can be shared and enjoyed by all at our meeting.
Our meeting will begin with a complimentary breakfast buffet followed by the business portion of the meeting. The PTA and Principal, Mr. Ben Sherman and Assistant Principal, Ms. Mala Panday and interim acting Assistant Principal, Mr. Paul Seo, will present up-to-date news and information concerning the school.
A presentation about “Rachel’s Challenge” will be given by Ms. Effie Marinos. Come and learn about our school’s participation in this challenge.
Our membership drive is ongoing so please be encouraged to sign-up and contribute your dues. If you have not yet contributed, please take the opportunity to do so at this coming meeting. Our suggested contribution is $20.00.
In order to foster better communication, we are in the process of updating our email contact list. Please take a moment to send us an email at pta@ewsis.org and request to be added on to our contact list. We will be utilizing this tool more to communicate with all of you in regards to PTA news and announcements.
We, on the PTA Executive Board, have been considering different possible fundraising activities, and we would like to know if you would be interested in participating in a springtime walkathon to help raise monies for our scholarship fund. Please sign-up at the meeting if you are interested.
And finally, we always allow plenty of time for a question and answer period so that the concerns of our parents can be addressed by the school administration.
After the PTA meeting, our Principal, Mr. Sherman, will be holding a separate Title 1 Parent meeting to update parents on our Title 1 status and funds from 11:30 AM-12:00 PM. You are all encouraged to stay for this important meeting.

Queridos Padres y Tutores de East-West,
La Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) tendra su próxima reunión el Sabado, 3 de Diciembre a las 10 de la mañana. Por favor acompanenos a empezar las celebraciones de las Fiestas de fin de ano con algunas actividades como INTERCAMBIO DE REGALOS y probar ESPECIALIDADES DE LAS FIESTAS DE FIN DE AÑO DE VARIOS PAISES DEL MUNDO.
Si desea participar en el INTERCAMBIO DE REGALOS, por favor traiga un regalo que no cueste mas de 5 dolares cuando venga a la reunión. También invitamos a todos los padres que quieran participar de ESPECIALIDADES DE LAS FIESTAS DE FIN DE AÑO, a traer un plato tipico para estas epocas, que represente su pais de origen, para compartir con todos en la reunión.
Nuestra reunión empezara como siempre, con nuestro desayuno tradicional, seguido de informaciones de PTA, el Director de la escuela, Ben Sherman y los sub-directores : la Sra. Mala Panday y el Sr. Paul Seo. Con importantes noticias de nuestra escuela.
La Profesora Effie Marinos hara una presentación sobre el programa “Rachel’s Challenge”. Venga y enterese de este importante programa en que nuestra escuela esta participando.
Podimos una colección anual de $ 20 dólares para ayudar a nuestra Asociación de Padres, pero si quiere donar mas dinero sera muy bien recibido. Si Usted todavía no dio su contibución, por favor le pedimos que lo haga. Recuerde que todo lo recaudado es para beneficio de nuestra escuela y nuestros hijos.
Queremos tener mejor comunicación con nuestros Padres, estamos en el proceso de actualizar toda la lista de los correos electronicos y numeros de telefonos. Por favor mandenos su información actual a nuestra dirección de correo pta@ewsis.org y pida que le agreguemos a nuestra lista de contactos. Asi podremos informarles atravez de este medio informaciones muy importantes sobre las actividades escolares y noticias de importantes.
Nosotros, los representantes de PTA, estamos considerando diferentes posibilidades, para recaudar fondos. Queremos saber si usted esta interesado en participar, en una caminata de primavera ( Springtime Walkathon) Lo recaudado sera para el FONDO DE VECAS DE NUESTRA ESCUELA. Por favor inscribase para esta actividad en nuestra reunión.
Y recuerde que siempre tenemos nuestro espacio, para preguntas y respuestas, alli Usted tiene la oportunidad de presentar sus preguntas, quejas y preocupaciones a nuestros directores y maestros de la escuela.
Despues de la reunión, el Director de la escuela Ben Sherman, va a actualizar a los padres sobre Title I. Para enterarse de los fondos y la importancia de este programa para nuestra escuela. Por favor es muy importante que asista a esta reunión que sera de 11:30 AM-12:00 PM.
