  • We had a good attendance at last night's East-West College Fair, which was in partnership with Francis Lewis High School and other high schools in Queens.  Our students were poised when introducing themselves as well as being prepared with questions to ask the college admission counselors.  Some of the questions included...

    What are the admissions requirements? What are the admissions requirements?
    Are classes taught by professors or graduate assistants? Are classes taught by professors or graduate assistants?
    Where are students from?  Is the campus diverse? Where are students from? Is the campus diverse?

  • NYC Parks Queens Borough Commissioner  Dorothy Lewandowski presented Mr. John Byas with the "Golden Toilet Paper Roll" in appreciation and recognition of his years of advocacy for a restroom in the park. NYC Parks Queens Borough Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski presented Mr. John Byas with the "Golden Toilet Paper Roll" in appreciation and recognition of his years of advocacy for a restroom in the park.

    Mr. John Henry Byas is relieved at last.  It took thirty years of cutting through red tape to finally cut the ribbon on the new Rachel Carson Comfort Station.  The $1 million funding to build the bathroom was secured by then city councilman, John C. Liu who is now the city comptroller and mayoral candidate.

    In the morning of April 11, 2013, staff, students, and select members of the press were invited to bear witness the official signing ceremony for the collaboration between East-West School of International Studies and Hangzhou No. 14 Secondary School in China.  Our principal, Mr. Sherman, along with the director of Hangzhou No. 14 , Mr. Shen Hao, signed the agreement marking the official date of the successful union between the two schools.

    The Hanban-Asia Society Confucius Classrooms Network has been established with the support of an International Expert Advisory Committee and in partnership with Hanban, a non-governmental agency supported by China’s Ministry of Education that supports the teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture in all corners of the world.
