  • September 2014 PTA Meeting

    Dear East-West Parents and Guardians,

    The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will hold its first meeting of the 2014-15 school year on Saturday, September 20th at 10:00 A.M. Please come and start off the new academic year by joining the East-West School community for this important meeting.

    Our meeting will begin with a light, complimentary breakfast. The business portion of the meeting is intended to give parents tools and information they can use to help their children get the most from their education. We will cover news and information specific to East-West from the PTA and the school administrators. We will also be conducting our annual membership drive. If you are parents of newly enrolled students, you will find our meetings to be an essential means for gathering information concerning your new school and meeting parents who can share their experiences with you.

    Parents of 8th graders are especially encouraged to attend this September 20th session as, Mr. Carlos Diaz, our Middle School Guidance Counselor, will be hosting a meeting that will be held immediately after the general meeting for parents of 8th graders in order to provide information and answer questions regarding:

    • What the Specialized High School Admission Test entails.

    • Important High School Application Deadlines.

    • “Sign Up” students for the test.

    And finally, we always allow plenty of time for a question and answer period so that the concerns of the parents can be addressed by the school administration.

All parents and guardians are cordially invited to attend. The business portion of the meeting will offer updated news for parents.  It will also include reports from our school administrators and other staff members.   • Color Wars

    Good Evening, This is the East-West School of International Studies calling with an important announcement.  East-West student government is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2014 Color War on Thursday, September 19th throughout the school day. Each grade has been assigned a color to wear for the event, some may even wish to apply face paint to show more spirit, of course with parental permission. The day will begin in the auditorium before students are escorted to Kissena Park, located at the corner of Colden and Oak. There, students will participate in a variety of athletic activities. We are asking all students to bring their own lunch, water, and any snacks. We will return to the school by 2:15 p.m. for dismissal.  We look forward to an exciting and spirited day. Our College Counselor and High School Guidance Counselor will talk about senior year expectations for you and your student. Our college counselor will also cover Paying for College using Financial Aid and will be on hand to schedule one-on-one meetings to further discuss your child's progress.     Good Evening, This is the East-West School of International Studies calling with important information.  We would like to welcome all incoming 6th and 9th grade students to Summer Bridge on Thursday, August 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is only for our new incoming students.  Returning students do not need to attend.  Students will meet current and new students and become familiar with the school culture and environment while participating in a number of team building activities. Our PTA is also generously providing lunch for all students.
